It might only be February, but it’s never too early to start thinking about summer reading! According to findings from the Scholastic Kids & Family Reading Report™: 6th Edition, kids read eight books on average over the summer; however one in five 12–17 year-olds and one in five kids in lower-income families do not read any books at all over the summer.
To talk about the critical importance of summer reading, author, literacy expert, and founder of the nonprofit LitWorld, Pam Allyn, is kicking off a month-long Super Reader Road Trip visiting students and educators at schools and events across the country. Pam will be sharing photos and video updates from the road throughout her trip, with insights and tips for making every student a Super Reader this summer.
