What do kids want in the books they read? Or more generally, why do kids read? We asked this important question earlier this year when we surveyed kids and parents on their reading behavior and preferences in the Kids & Family Reading Report.
The answer was clear: kids want books that make them laugh. Kids across age groups overwhelmingly agree that when they're reading for fun, they seek out books that make them laugh.
And what better time to laugh and read for fun than during the summer months? Reading for pleasure in the summer is not only crucial to a child's learning development, it's also a big part of what makes them happy. Anyone who has seen a child giggling over a Captain Underpants or Diary of a Wimpy Kid book can agree. That's why we're thrilled to host a Facebook chat with our very own parenting expert, Maggie McGuire, on the books that make kids LOL! Maggie will share her recommendations for all ages and take questions from parents tuning in. Details below!
