Executive Editor (Location: New York, NY)
Scholastic seeks an experienced Executive Editor to work with the Executive Director of Product Development & Original Publishing. The team is a fun, fast-paced department responsible for a huge range of books and non-book products.
Responsibilities include:
- Acquire, edit and develop a wide variety of products for Scholastic’s proprietary distribution channels, including: novelty books, toys, games, paperback nonfiction, licensed movie and television tie-in titles, and other special formats
- Oversee all stages of production from concept to publication
- Identify/hire/manage authors, illustrators, licensors and agents
- Hire and oversee outside packaging companies when needed
- Negotiate publishing deals, including costs and payment terms with contributors
- Develop schedules, budgets and P&Ls
- Meet regularly with club editors to assess product needs and schedule new products in monthly reading club catalogs
- Provide direction for promotional copy and product photography for catalog promotion
- Assist Editorial Director in supervision of support staff

Sr. Director, Product Manager of Enterprise Data, Search and Analytics (Location: New York, NY)
Scholastic seeks a strong Product Manager who will provide strategic direction and oversee the development and management of enterprise digital products and services on Scholastic.com to support the goals and objectives of Scholastic divisions. The ideal candidate will need to master a combination of leadership and tactical execution on strategy in the domains of product and customer data and search. A hands-on approach to get the job done is critical to success in this role. The person in this role will manage the Online Data and Analytics team to drive data into insights and help to expand the Performance practice at Scholastic.
Responsibilities include:
- Act as product owner for the following key enterprise digital initiatives:
- Customer-facing book metadata distribution services
- Enterprise search
Scholastic online profile services:
- Work with business divisions to uncover common needs for the identified digital services
- Serve as key point of contact to address business divisions’ concerns with Scholastic’s data, search and profile services
- Collaborate on the creation of prototypes for usability testing of enhancements or new services
- In collaboration with technical business analyst, write user stories and acceptance criteria
- Work collaboratively with engineering to design, implement, and test features
Enterprise Performance Data and Analytics:
- Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and clients to grow the Performance practice
- Integrate disparate data sources that capture performance of online and offline media

Regional Field Sales Manager, Book Fairs (Location: West Chester, OH)
The person in this position is responsible for the management and direction of all Field Sales Representatives and Book Fair Merchandisers to achieve regional goals through training and development on branch-related issues, product/inventory concerns, and all new programs. The Field Sales Manager will also build strategic sales plans to obtain regional and corporate goals incorporating the ability to adjust actions as needed to accommodate changes and unplanned circumstances.
Responsibilities include:
- Hire, develop, motivate, and retain staff of Field Sales Associates and Book Fair Merchandisers through setting clear performance goals, coaching, developing, and reviewing performance
- Analyze Field Sales Territories/Fairs/Schools by prioritizing the schedule and services to be performed in an effort to deploy field associates in a way that maximizes coverage and effectiveness
- Build a customer-focused team and create customer loyalty by understanding customer requirements, expectations, and needs
- Deliver on customer commitments, help to remove barriers to customer service, and ensure exceptional customer experiences
- Conduct ride-along visits with Field Associates to schools/fairs to gain a clear understanding of performance and training needs within the territory
- Partner with regional management team to plan, schedule, coordinate, and observe the Book Fair Workshops for all locations within the region
