We're welcoming Devin MacDonald from our Klutz team to the blog today to fill us in on what's happening at Toy Fair 2015!
On any given day, you’ll find the workshop of our new Klutz Headquarters in NYC abuzz, glitter dusting every surface, crafts-in-the-making sprawled across the table in various stages of development. But, as we prepare for New York Toy Fair this weekend, art projects and supplies have spilled out into the office, slowly devouring our desks and the floor around them. We’re pulling out all the crafty stops for this exciting stepping stone in the journey to put our books in kids’ hands.
From February 14-17, we’ll be unveiling our new line of book-based activity kits among to an estimated 30,000 attendees from 100 different countries (crazy, right?). Knowing we’ll be in good company, we took some time to reflect on what makes us, well, Klutz.
There are our crystal-clear instructions, of course, and everything kids need to get started. There are our custom tools, and our silly sense of humor. But after inviting some amazing kid testers into our workshop to play, laugh, craft, and create, we had one of those ‘Aha!’ moments: Klutz helps to kick-start creativity!
With every one of our kits, we endeavor not only to teach kids new tricks and provide them with a cool way to keep to boredom at bay, but also to get them thinking on their feet. Our aim is to spark curiosity, to encourage experimentation, to feed imagination, and we believe this is vibrantly showcased in our Spring ’15 line.
LEGO® Chain Reactions asks kid builders to think outside of the box and dream up extraordinary uses for their amazing, moving LEGO machines.
Shrink & Link Jewelry opens a whole new world of possibilities using the same Shrinky Dinks materials kids know and love.
Prankster Magic is a kids’ companion to finding their own personal brand of magic, packed with tips and tricks to put on a show that’s one-of-a-kind.
Dress Up Your Own Paper Pups introduces five little puppies to pamper and play pretend with, and their wide array of wardrobe changes is sure to inspire awesome adventures.
Nail Art is all about taking a chance with personal style. Kids can paint on, peel off, and paint on again until they’ve found the perfect look.
Build Your Own Gotcha Gadgets is an electric experiment in practical jokes that will have kids fine-tuning booby traps for maximum laughs.
Tiny Stitches’ petite projects call for creative display, and kids are bound to rise to the challenge once they’ve made their own adorable collection of pint-sized embroidery.
We can’t wait to share these kits and we hope you’re excited too. But, first things first, we’ve got a Toy Fair booth to put together!
