Since 2000, Kid Reporters in the Scholastic News Kids Press Corps have gotten the inside scoop on news in their communities, tapping into the issues that matter most to kids. They’ve also stayed on the pulse of national and international news by sitting down with notable political figures, athletes, actors, philanthropists, educators, and so many more (Sonia Sotomayor, James Corden, Anderson Cooper, Ava DuVernay, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tim McGraw, and America Ferrara, to name a few).
Right now, students from any country around the world can apply to become Kid Reporters themselves and join the award-winning Scholastic News Kids Press Corps! Throughout the 2019–2020 school year, these junior journalists work closely with their editor in New York City to gain valuable writing and critical-thinking skills through hands-on journalism experience.
To be considered for the program, students must be between the ages of 10–14 (must be 10 years old by August 31, 2019) and complete an application, which includes writing a news story, story ideas, and a personal essay. All applications must be received by May 31, 2019.
