My favorite story of the week: Many of the public libraries in Bogotá, Colombia are located far away from the poorer communities, making it difficult for many children to access books. Garbage collector Jose Gutierrez noticed this problem and for nearly 20 years has been rescuing discarded books from the trash to add to his makeshift home library.
The Royal Shakespeare Company has launched an app that teaches kids about Shakespeare through rap lyrics (which are apparently derived from some of the best insults in Shakespeare's plays).
"Mindfulness training" in the classroom is becomming a thing. The positvie effects are clear: it keeps kids calm, helps those with agression, ADHD, or axiety, and benefits their general well-being.
