The Shelter Buddies Reading Program encourages children to read aloud to shelter dogs in the hope that the interaction will better prepare the dogs for a future with a family. (And it really works!) The benefits go both ways though — the shy readers build confidence through reading aloud again and again. Best. Program. Ever.
