As part of a district-wide collaboration focused on early literacy, between Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District Education Foundation (SCUC EF) and Scholastic, Pre-K and Kindergarten students at Rose Garden Elementary in North Schertz, Texas, have received two new free books to take home and enjoy forever.
The Rose Garden Elementary event kicked off the first of many similar book distributions that will continue to take place across the district over the next few months. During the event, SCUCISD EF representatives, district leadership and Clifford the Big Red Dog™ helped students celebrate the power and joy of reading.
“We appreciate the reading materials that Scholastic is able to provide directly to our students and their families,” said Dr. Clark Ealy, Superintendent of SCUC ISD.
Research from the latest edition of the Scholastic Kids & Family Reading Report™ shows us that the majority of parents (96%) agree that every child needs to have books at home. Access to high-quality books both in and out of the classroom is key to building foundational reading skills and a generation of avid readers.
