Have plans next Wednesday? Now you do. At 8pm EST, join us for a Google+ hangout on the subject of summer reading! Pam Allyn, literacy expert and founder of LitWorld, will be moderating our hour-long session.
Entitled "Stopping the Summer Slide: a Summer Reading Roundtable," the hangout will feature three educators who will speak to how their schools and communities have tried to tackle summer learning loss. They'll share strategies for motivating kids to read, ways to communicate and involve parents, and stories from their own experiences in summers past.
We'll even hear from the principal of the winning school in last year's Summer Reading Challenge! (In case you missed it, teacher registration for this year's program JUST launched—and we already have over 150,000 kids registered!)
See below for the full list of panelists.
- Sylvia Ibarra, Principal of the 2013 Scholastic Summer Challenge winning school (McAllen, TX)
- Misty Haynes (Media Specialist, Kissimmee, FL)
- Katie Nelson (4th grade teacher, Chippewa Falls, WI)
Please join us! RSVP here and see you at 8pm.
