Calling all readers worldwide! The 13th annual World Read Aloud Day is taking place on Wednesday, February 2, 2022.
In honor of this special day, beginning Monday, January 31, through Wednesday, February 2, Scholastic and LitWorld, the global nonprofit advocating for the power of sharing stories, are offering a three day series of events featuring virtual, interactive activities for kids, parents and educators to enjoy.
With live author events, parent chats, literacy tips, giveaways and more, World Read Aloud Day Book Fest will help foster connections and celebrate the power of storytelling. Readers around the world will have the opportunity to hear from literacy experts and authors, including the 2022 World Read Aloud Day Author Ambassador Tami Charles, author of the New York Times bestselling picture book All Because You Matter.
To celebrate the day, participants can also sign up to receive a free Virtual Kit with book recommendations, free activities, discussion guides and reading resources.

Results from the Scholastic Kids & Family Reading Report™: 7th Edition show that more than 80% of both kids and parents love or like read-aloud time because they consider it a special time together. Dwaine Millard, Senior Vice President of Literacy Initiatives and Family & Community Engagement at Scholastic says: “World Read Aloud Day is a powerful reminder of the way stories can bring kids, families, educators and whole communities together around a shared experience, and serve as a bridge to empower us all to learn, grow, ask questions and experience joy, which is so needed in our world today during these trying times. This year, we are so excited to offer World Read Aloud Day Book Fest as a free and fun way for people everywhere to find joy in reading aloud.”
